Program mission

Our community is full of innovators and technologists who are leveraging their skills to create tools, resources, and events with missions focused on a new blueprint for peace and prosperity. As always, we’re inspired by our community – by you – and we’re committed to helping bring your impactful ideas to life.

This is what we’re committing:

1. $500,000 in infrastructure credits as well as promotion and publicity for new, not-for-profit projects related to improving health and education, reducing inequality, and spurring economic growth. Apply here.

2. $50,000 in cash donations to the Hollie's Hub for Good Fund, which supports organizations including: Per Scholas, NPower, Black Girls Code, SocialWorks, Dev Color, All Star Code, and Blacks in Technology Foundation.

3. An ever-growing directory that helps you find other ways to get involved. Find ideas for joining forces, helping existing projects amplify their efforts, and using DigitalOcean resources to learn new concepts and teach others.

Hollie’s Story

The Hub for Good program was created in 2020 by Hollie Haggans, DigitalOcean’s 150th employee, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic as a way for DigitalOcean to both invest back into and support our global community. In order to honor Hollie, who tragically passed away in 2021, Hub for Good has been renamed Hollie’s Hub for Good. Hollie was a fierce champion of the community of developers and startups she so passionately served and we’re proud to have her legacy live on through this program that will continue to advance the inspiring work she accomplished during her 5+ years at DigitalOcean.

How can we join DigitalOcean as a partner in this effort?

If your company is interested in providing resources (primarily monetary) to support projects, please email us at [email protected] with [PARTNER] in the subject line.

I didn’t get accepted for DigitalOcean credit, why?

As outlined above, this relief effort is focused on supporting not-for-profit projects that are directly involved with improving health and education, reducing inequality, and spurring economic growth. We evaluate each candidate to determine if they are eligible based on the information we receive, and will use our discretion to determine if applicants are ineligible because they are, for example, not directly related to improving health and education, reducing inequality, and spurring economic growth or do not include sufficient information about a project or initiative. Given the rapidly changing needs and conditions surrounding improving health and education, reducing inequality, and spurring economic growth, we cannot guarantee that any particular project is eligible, and may change or clarify criteria to help achieve the purpose of the program.

What does it mean if I give DigitalOcean permission to share my project?

If you check the box to allow us to share your project, you are giving us permission to share the information provided in your application, and identifiers like your project names, logos, and trademarks to the public in any format that we choose for promoting projects in this program. If you change your mind or have concerns about how we are sharing your project, you can always reach out to us at [email protected].
