With Central Park in its south, Columbia University in the west, El Barrio in the east, and a mix of all in its center, Harlem is one of the fastest growing, most gentrified neighborhoods in NY. Yet, Harlem is able to maintain it's unique communal atmosphere. Here we will explore the best Latin-American dishes in the City, the largest fresh fish market, authentic East & West African food, and of course New York's best jazz & blues underground spots. Throughout the tour we will try to understand the connection between food and cultural identity in a historical context

Mexican appetizer

We'll begin the tour in Spanish Harlem with a delicious order of Mexican burritos or tacos, topped with homemade guacamole, salads, and pico de gallo

Island Seafood

Crossing 5th avenue will take us into the heart of Harlem, where new fusion restaurants together with authentic markets dominant the scenery. Here we will stop in one of Harlem's smallest kitchens for some shrimps and crab legs in traditional saucing

Soul Food

It is not a full Harlem experience without some southern chicken on waffle with strawberry butter, wings, or fried chicken. After enjoying seafood, we will comfort ourselves in the hands of one of New York's most famous chefs.
