Lottie import#345

I can’t import JSON files to Rive 2. Where is Rive 1? I still need it. My files are gone if u’re not allowing json imports anymore.

Hi Yuta,

You can access Rive 1 (formally Flare) via https://flare.rive.app or via the popout on the Launch action for Rive 2.

Hope this helps!

Will importing Lottie Animations be possible in Rive 2? We have a need to do so as well.

I cannot access the Rive 1 anymore. It says: Tthe new Rive is here! Signups for the old Rive (formerly Flare) are closed.

When can I import JSON files to Rive 2??

Lottie import is possible, as we had support for this in the old Rive. That said, that was intended as a bridge for users that have a lot of After Effects animations that would be painful to recreate from scratch. If you are creating new animations, we think you’ll have a better experience creating them directly in Rive. After Effects isn’t intended for realtime content. Files exported from After Effects are often complex (for realtime playback) and not as optimized as files created directly in Rive.

@Yuta Yudistira, your files should not be gone. You can still access all your old files at https://flare.rive.app. We also have some support for importing your old files in the new Rive, which you can read about here: https://help.rive.app/getting-started/faq-1/importing-rive-1-files

We realize it’s a transitional moment for users of the old system. We had to make some hard decisions when building the new version, like prioritizing different features from the old version. We believe these decisions make the new Rive a better product. We’re still in beta and working towards feature parity. If you bear with us, we think it’ll be worth it.

Is it possible to import Lottie animation file into the Rive 2? If it is, could you tell me how?

Lottie is currently not supported. It’s possible to add, but it requires effort and needs to be prioritized against other features. Feel free to vote on it here. These posts help our team prioritize what features to build.

Is Lottie implementation supported yet? I am trying to import json files from After Effects and the Bodymovin exporter won’t export animations from AE as a Rive file :( Drag & drop does not seem to work either.

Any work arounds?

Can you say more, @Johnnyadsantos? We have plenty of customers shipping to mobile with our iOS, Android, React Native, and Flutter runtimes. https://help.rive.app/runtimes/overview

If I can’t export in json or can’t import to lotie what do I do? I can’t even export in transparent gif.

@Bianca Correia Our runtimes are the best way to get your Rive files onto most platforms. This is the recommended way and what the platform is designed to do. The runtimes guarantee that your files look and behaves exactly the same in your product as it does in our editor. https://help.rive.app/runtimes/overview
